Keemlaw Catering Complements invited the winners of its Online Charity Bake Off competition to a cheque presentation.  The competition celebrated the launch of the opening online Sugarcraft & Bakeware Store -  Winners of the Online Bake Off each won £100 for charity and today presented a cheque to their charity of choice.

The Keemlaw Online Charity Bake Off invited home cooks and anyone that dabbles in the kitchen, to create, bake and decorate a cake masterpiece and lastly take a photo to win a monetary donation for their chosen charity.  The category winners of the Online Charity Bake Off and their chosen charity are as follows:

1. Best Decorated Cake

Winner - Jessica Malpas said: “Baking has always been a hobby and something I really enjoy, I’m hoping in the future it will become my career and I’m delighted to have won and donated to Demelza.”

Charity – Demelza, Sophie Amos, Store Manager said: “What a great competition, all donations we receive make a real difference and ensure Demelza continues to provide the much needed care for children and support for their families.”

2. Most Creative Cupcake

Winner - Chloe Debnam said: “Cooking is messy fun and I like eating the icing.”

Charity – NSPCC, Michele Baxter, Community Fundraising Manager said: “Cooking with little ones is brilliant, they have so much fun while learning so many things.  It’s lovely that Chloe’s cooking is going to help protect children. Well done and a big thank you!”

3. Under 12s – Anything Good Goes

Winners  - James & Ruby Chapman, Mum Lisa said: “We have been involved raising money before for the charity and the children wanted to see if they could help to raise more.”

Charity – The Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust: Katrina Toms Trust Secretary said: “Each year, about 950 babies are admitted to the Unit and its the additional funds donated that mean we can purchase new equipment necessary to enhance the unit to provide the best care possible, so a big thank you to James and Ruby.

Derrick Law, Founder and Director of Keemlaw said: “We have discovered many talented bakers, well done to all the winners!  Their baking has stretched a long way to helping others.  Its great that more and more people are now enjoying baking at home, I think people have discovered homemade cakes just taste significantly better.”

Derrick, who jointly judged the entries with guest judge Sarah Allsebrook, local Patisserie Chef and owner of Frédéric Café Bistro, were both amazed at what home cooks and amateur bakers are producing in their own homes.

Sarah said: “I’m delighted to have been involved in the Online Bake Off, it’s a great initiative to encourage more people into their kitchens.  Congratulations to all that entered, there are so many creative bakers out there, the winners all offered something unique.  For anyone thinking about having a dabble in the kitchen I have just a small tip, don’t rush baking, take your time and the result will be worth every minute, but most importantly have fun with it.”
